So who is… Jaksen

On the professional side —

The more experience I become as a designer, the more I understand that Dieter Rams was right. Less is more, less but better. Especially, in today's world.

I try to take that philosophy everywhere I go, and put my self in the user's shoes along the way. The experiences we create should have less distractions, not more, less clutter, more space. This idea of less, pairs beautifully with my other philosophy of intentionality.

Something I learned at Facebook, but not taught widely (as for why, I'll never understand), intentionality works as the Yin to less, but better's Yang. I work to design intuitive experiences that are honed to intentionally guide you to your destination, with delight along the way.

These two permeate every decision I make, and every design I create. Let's create experiences are intentionally less, but better.

On the personal side —

I have a deep love for learning new things. This takes form in having many passions or hobbies throughout life and also leads to many new experiences.

Currently AI & innovation has taken over my free time, be it diving into news, testing new products, or getting lost in a new idea on Cursor. I find fun and inspiration in all of it.

Along with innovation however, after a recent trip to Italy I've found deeper inspiration by the lavish and ornate art & architecture.

Visiting the Palazzo Pitti and getting to see not only sculptures of some of my favorite historical figures, but also the intricacies of the art and housing the nobles of the time spent their lives in was breathtaking.

In summary, at present you can find me both reveling in the future and the past.
